The Wife says Not a Roman Catholic since 1979 and glad of it! on 2/1/2002
I would like to take a moment to comment on yesterday's rant re: Cardinal Law.
He is a DISGRACE!
All of the church leaders in every Roman Catholic diocese in America and around the world that have lied, contributed to and aided the felonious behavior of priests for hundreds of years should be held accountable.
If this were a situation involving any other area of public trust, we would all (Catholic or not) be outraged enough to be seeking prison terms and damages from a corrupt 'regime' such as this.
The Roman Catholic church is egomaniacal enough to think that they were above the law, even to the limit that they felt they were a government unto themselves and could forgive CRIMES against children.
This disgusting criminal activity, that violates the most basic of human trust reaches back hundreds of years and as far up the ladder of the RC hierarchy that anyone can imagine.
Think for a moment 0 if Cardinal Law was a superintendent of a school system and continued to approve transfers for teachers (isn't that what priests are commissioned to do - teach) throughout a school system for years upon years, while knowing these teachers were repeatedly raping and molesting children...what would be the appropriate action to take???
If this were ANY other religious community, we would be calling for complete disclosure and criminal action against ANY AND ALL INVOLVED

The Wife says Not a Catholic since 79 continued on 2/1/2002
And don't kid yourselves into thinking that Rome didn't know - the idiot's involved in perpetrating the crimes and covering them up even documented their treason.
The entire RC church religious community should pay for the atrosities committed against hundreds of thousands of children (and some adults) for hundreds of years.
How DARE they think themselves above the law.
The confessional should NEVER have been used to hide felonies.
True forgiveness can only be given by the victims and God the Father.
This monstrous situation is the perfect arguement for priests and therapists to be REQUIRED to report felonies that are disclosed to them.
The house of the RC church is apparently built of straws and we know what happens to houses of straw.

The Wife says Not a Catholic since 79 continued on 2/1/2002
It's long overdue that RC leaders come clean about alot of things - and not just in the Diocese of Boston, but throughout America and the world.
Do I have an answer, you ask????
Hmm, maybe all RC priests who are asked to take a vow of celibacy (which is impossible for most individuals) should become euinichs.
Or, if you think that too harsh (I don't)...maybe some BASIC sexual profiling therapy before they are allowed to take vows to see if they are pedophiles?
I'll keep working on that.

Catholics everywhere and every other person seeking Christ in their lives and a safe church home should be outraged, enraged, insensed and ready to hold the Roman Catholic regime responsible and accountable!

The Wife says P.S. on 2/1/2002
As far as Jane Swift goes (and hopefully that will be soon)....
She is a waster of space and air...
and an insult to working women and mothers everywhere.

I cannot wait until November - Good ridance Jane!

The Wife says P.S.S. on 2/1/2002
Sorry for the type-o's, I was on a roll.

The real reason Santa is so jolly is because he knows where all the bad girls live.I realized that I hadn't updated in 10 days, and then I realized that I still don't have much to say. The weather is great, work stinks (wanna give me a job?), I get way to much spam, (although not as much as the wife!).
Cardinal Law, Jane Swift... hmmm.. two winners, both embarassments, boy I'm glad we have them. The Patriots... ok.. time to be a fair weather fan I suppose. Third time is the charm? We can hope.. Boston could use a championship, we haven't had one in quite some time. Perhaps they will set a good example for the Broons and Celts? Broons tied 1-1 with the Blackhawks at this writing.. thanks for asking.

RantUser says HE SCORES! on 1/29/2002
The Bruins WIN with 20 seconds left!!

BBS says Boston Sports on 1/30/2002
Hmmm 3rd time a charm??? Ask Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills...
I was thinking about this on my ride home last night. Has there ever been a city that had all the various major sports champions at the same time. The Patriots have made it to the super bowl the Broons are as good as any team in the NHL (other then the redwings) The Celtics seem to be playing well but I really don't pay attention to them. And the RedSox have new owners that say they will win the world series!
Then again it is Boston and the teams will break you heart EVERY TIME!!!

Some have seen this before.. but.. too bad.Jesse Jackson has added former Chicago democratic congressman Mel Reynolds to Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's payroll. Reynolds was among the 176 criminals excused in President Clinton's last minute forgiveness spree.
Reynolds received a commutation of his six-and-a-half-year federal sentence for 15 convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud and lies to the Federal Election Commission. He is more notorious, however, for concurrently serving five years for sleeping with an underage campaign volunteer. So, here is a first In American politics: An ex-congressman who had sex with a subordinate, won clemency from a president who had sex with a subordinate, then was hired by a clergyman who had sex with a subordinate. His new job? Youth counselor! Is America a great country or what?

Eddie says LOL on 1/18/2002
On theTopic, get this, St Leo the Great, which is a local school is RI, hired a teacher without doing abackgroun ceck, and hewas arrested for having "relations" with a sudent, his name is now Chester the Molester. Seems even our Catholic schools arent safe anymore

Andy C - East London says Same problem in england on 1/22/2002
We have the same problem in LONDON with immigrants trying to change the way of our culture government and society. Nearly all of the people that moan claim loads of government handouts. Please make a note that in England we have a major problem with people from the India / middle east region of the world - pushing there religious beliefs onto us.. I Think they should remember when in Rome if they do not like it they can bugger off....

Steve G says AndyC lies on 1/30/2002
Simply not true... There's simply not enough space to refute his points one by one, but even our local right-wing evening paper doesn't go so far!

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT This is an Editorial written by an American citizen. He did quite a job; didn't he?
i am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the

The Wife says Wow! on 1/14/2002
Wow!
Amen from a Christian woman.
Now let's talk about the need to acknowledge that $5,000/yr for a child to be educated (while paying a teacher only $25,000/yr) is absurd when we are paying $50,000/yr and more to house a criminal (while paying guards $50,000/yr)!
Is this warped or what....
If we paid our teachers $50,000/yr and spent, say $30,000 per child for academic, sports, music and art education, do you think that maybe, just maybe, there would eventually be fewer criminals?
What message are we sending to our children, let alone the criminals about worth?
Surely, this affects the way other nations and certainly our new American citizens view our society as well.
We need a stronger educational foundation for our children, support services after school for children of single parents who have to work, resources for children who are being neglected and abused, and a more accountable academic structure so that these kids will push themselves to be better because we care about them. Not to mention the effect a uniform, the Pledge of Allegiance,Morning Prayer and Grace before lunch would have for them and their families.
These should be the reasons people of the world would admire us and want to immigrate here...not the welfare system or political correctness.
Should I go on?????

smee says $10 Late fee on 1/15/2002
You read about all these terrorists, most of them came here legally, but they hung around on these expired visas, some for as long as 10-15 years. Now, compare that to Blockbuster; you are two days late with a video, and these people are all over your ass. Let's put Blockbuster in charge of immigration.

Eddie says Your right! on 1/18/2002
I like the idea of more accuntability in school, and a stronger education system. Have you heard about the military schools in Chicagoand California, thers a 95% attendance rate and kids are held responsibel fr everything hat they do. We should make all schools like that! Oh why cant we live in a Utopia!?

Welcome to Y2K2.Why does the post office have to advertise? Do they have competition for the daily mail service? Your tax dollars hard at work.. so when they want to raise the stamp price to 36 cents it will be for more of those fun ads. How 'bout this.. when you bring a package to my door, you could leave the mail to.
The other day I was behind a woman... who lost her passenger side rearview mirror when she swerved to avoid a squirel in the road. I thought.. was it really worth it? Another inch or two and she would have lost half her car.. after all she was going about 40 MPH. Don't worry the squirel is OK. (I knew you were worried)Notre Dame just hired a new coach for its football team... to the tune of $2 million /year. I did a little research.. and the average salary for a professor at Notre Dame is about $100,000 /year. Oddly enought.. ND only graduates about 73% of the football team. So.. why does the coach get 2 mil? Oh yeah.. that's right... we value sports more than education, why pay teachers when we can just pay welfare, unemployment, and prison guards.

BBS says USPS on 1/10/2002
I think it is great that the USPS sponsors the Bicycle racing efforts but I am baffled why they would:
a) Sponser a team seems like a $ loser
b) Get involved in a Sport that is Huge in Europe but dismisses with out notice in there "target market"
c)Maybe they should deliver the mail via bicycle, lowering the fuel cost, that they state is the #1 reason theny need to raise the price of a stamp!
